Baseball Recap: Niles West Find Success

Niles West won the last time they faced Maine East and things went their way on Monday too. The Wolves came out on top against the Blue Demons by a score of 5-1. The game was the first time the Wolves have beaten the Blue Demons on their field since April 11, 2019.

Yacoub Rayan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Niles West's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kheiron Jardinado, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits Jardinado has posted since back in April.

Niles West's win bumped their record up to 11-14. As for Maine East, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Niles West will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Blue Demons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
