Volleyball Recap: Helena's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Helena unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Pelham Panthers. The Huskies were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Helena started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-12, 25-17, 25-23.

Monroe Bouler paced Helena's offense, picking up nine kills. Bouler got some help from Avery Cantley and her 24 assists. Mady Mamucud and Riley Woods kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with five aces apiece.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pelham to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayla Girardin, who had 12 digs and two assists. Those 12 digs gave Girardin a new career-high.

Helena's loss dropped their record down to 20-16. As for Pelham, with the win, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 13-21.

Helena wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Hillcrest on the 9th. As for Pelham, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Saraland on the 9th.
