Basketball Game Preview: Lawndale Cardinals vs. Leuzinger Olympians

The Lawndale Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Leuzinger Olympians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lawndale knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Leuzinger likes a good challenge.

Lawndale is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Culver City just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a hard 76-58 fall against the Centaurs. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Centaurs are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, Leuzinger waltzed into their game on Wednesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They enjoyed a cozy 52-37 win over the Vikings.

Leuzinger pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Lawndale, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

Lawndale came up short against Leuzinger in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 67-54. Can Lawndale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
