Basketball Recap: Dunbar Extends Winning Streak to Four

Dunbar lost to Catholic Central back in January of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Dunbar Wolverines enjoyed a cozy 51-33 victory over the Catholic Central Irish. The win was familiar territory for the Wolverines who have now won four matches in a row.

Leading Dunbar to victory were Aunesty Ramsey and Blessyn Preston. Ramsey posted 14 points and five steals, while Preston had 16 points in addition to six boards and six steals. The game was Preston's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Donisha Davis was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds.

Dunbar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Catholic Central still got an impressive performance from Danaysha Dearmond, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. Dearmond continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Sophia Roberts also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Dunbar is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Catholic Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

Dunbar will host Withrow at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Dunbar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season. Catholic Central has already played their next game, a 57-25 loss against Greeneview on the 1st.
