Baseball Game Preview: Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds vs. Amherst Falcons

Iola-Scandinavia is 2-8 against Amherst since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Thunderbirds will host the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Iola-Scandinavia is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They came up short against Marmion on Tuesday, falling 13-3.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Amherst's offense. They lost 10-0 to Mayville on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost three in a row.

Amherst saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Spoelstra, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Iola-Scandinavia might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Amherst in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Thunderbirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
