Baseball Recap: Midland Park Has No Trouble Against Becton

Midland Park never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past the Becton Wildcats 8-0. Considering the Panthers have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Braiden Russell was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Fleming, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Midland Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Midland Park's win bumped their record up to 10-3-1. As for Becton, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-7.

Coming up, Midland Park will square off against Wood-Ridge at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Becton, they will take on Glen Rock at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
