            Basketball Recap: Cordova Wolverines vs. Unalakleet Wolfpack        
        
		
        
        
            Cordova was the  59-43 winner over Unalakleet when they last played one another  back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Cordova Wolverines took  a  47-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Unalakleet Wolfpack on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings  (they are ranked 52nd, while the Wolfpack are ranked ninth).
 Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Chiko Jacob, who  posted 17 points and eight  boards. The team also got some help courtesy of  John Itliong, who  dropped  a double-double on 11  points and 11  rebounds.
Cordova's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Unalakleet, the  victory was  the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
 Cordova will get a bit of extra time to process the  loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valdez at 8:30  p.m.  on February 13th. Unalakleet also won't see the court for a while: their next  game is against Cordova on February 20th.
