Softball Game Preview: West Port Wolf Pack vs. Tohopekaliga Tigers

The West Port Wolf Pack will venture away from home to face off against the Tohopekaliga Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Port has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

West Port is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 15-2 to Trenton.

Meanwhile, Tohopekaliga came up short against Osceola on Tuesday, falling 11-3.

Anaya Josue was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Dyliannis Nieves also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Tohopekaliga has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 9.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only four in the others. West Port now has a losing record of 4-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. West Port has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tohopekaliga struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
