Baseball Recap: Quincy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Quincy dropped their record down to 14-15 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Alleman Pioneers by a score of 4-2. The Blue Devils were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Pioneers' pitcher proved too tough.

Drake Gibson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

As for Alleman, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Alleman's side, Truman Marner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. Marner has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cael Kuster, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Quincy will host Quincy Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Alleman, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against East Dubuque at 4:30 p.m.
