Softball Recap: Mckeel Academy Has No Trouble Against Frostproof

McKeel Academy not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th. They put the hurt on the Frostproof Bulldogs with a sharp 16-1 win. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 4-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Chloe Lanier made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Brianna Shelley was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Emma Skipper was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

McKeel Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

McKeel Academy's record now sits at 5-8. As for Frostproof, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

McKeel Academy and Frostproof could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. McKeel Academy (ranked 302nd) will meet George Jenkins (ranked 113th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Frostproof will challenge Lakeland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 176 places (330 vs. 154).
