Basketball Recap: Basile Takes a Loss

Basile was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 66-51 fall against the Merryville Panthers. The Bearcats lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 74-28 score last time.

Basile's record is now 8-26. As for Merryville, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2-1 and their overall record up to 6-20-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basile will face off against Georgetown at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Georgetown has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 201 points over their last three contests. As for Merryville, they will take on Hamilton Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamilton Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season.
