Softball Recap: Indianapolis Washington Comes Up Short on the Road Against Herron

Indianapolis Washington kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Herron Achaeans, falling 16-5. If the Continentals were looking for revenge after losing 26-16 to the Achaeans when the teams met back in April of 2017, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Vivian Gallegos was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Marline Milfort was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.

Herron's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.

Coming up, Indianapolis Washington will head out to take on Providence Cristo Rey at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Herron, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 16-3 win against Indianapolis Crispus Attucks on the 12th.
