Baseball Game Preview: Mitchell Mountaineers vs. Freedom Patriots

The Mitchell Mountaineers will challenge the Freedom Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mitchell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Mitchell's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Bethel Christian Academy with a sharp 12-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mountaineers.

Sam Jones was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Mitchell's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Kaden Buchanan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact: Mitchell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Freedom was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to Watauga.

Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Mitchell, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
