Recap: Uintah Utes vs. Mountain View Bruins

The Uintah Utes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Mountain View 68-40. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Uintah has scored all season.

Several Utes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was JJ Jenson, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Dauson Gardiner, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.

Uintah struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mountain View pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.

Leading Mountain View to victory were Simeon Suguturaga and Conner Fairbanks. Suguturaga dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, while Fairbanks scored 26 points along with six assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Mella, who scored 13 points along with three steals.

Uintah has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Uintah will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Layton Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,385 points over their last 20 games. As for Mountain View, they will head out on the road to square off against the Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Timpanogos is ranked 48th, while the Bruins are ranked 28th).
