Basketball Game Preview: Minden Whippets vs. Beatrice Orangemen

Minden has won 14 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Beatrice has won 14 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Minden Whippets will host the Beatrice Orangemen at 5:00 p.m. Minden is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.

Minden saw some tournament action last Saturday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 45-29 victory over Grand Island Central Catholic. The 45-point effort marked the Whippets' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Minden relied on the efforts of Myla Emery, who posted 12 points and five rebounds, and Makenna Betty, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and three steals. Those 12 points gave Betty a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsie Land, who put up seven points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Beatrice didn't have too much trouble with Standing Bear on Saturday as they won 52-37.

Minden's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Beatrice, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Minden didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Beatrice in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 62-56 win. Does Minden have another victory up their sleeve, or will Beatrice turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
