High school football rankings: Shanley finishes No. 1 in final North Dakota MaxPreps Top 25

Deacons win 10th state title in school history.

The high school football season in North Dakota came to a close over the weekend. Shanley (Fargo) was among the victors with a 48-7 win over Century (Bismarck) in the Class 11AA state championship game. That victory helped propel the Deacons to the No. 1 ranking in the final North Dakota MaxPreps Top 25.

Shanley (10-2) won its first state title since 2018 and 10th in school history, beating Century for the second time this season in the title game. The Deacons were led by quarterback Michael Rostberg, who threw for 2,969 yards and 34 touchdowns this fall while adding 373 yards on the ground and nine scores.

Checking in at No. 2 was 11B state champion Velva/Garrison (Velva), which capped an undefeated (13-0) campaign with a 22-20 win over Central Cass (Casselton) in the title game.
