Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Deer Valley's 12th in Last 14 Outings

After losing to Cactus the last time they met, Deer Valley decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Skyhawks walked away with a 6-2 win over the Cobras on Thursday.

Adyson Ordway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Leila Hermosillo and Taylor Passalacqua did most of the damage at the plate: Hermosillo went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run, while Passalacqua went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave Hermosillo a new career-high. Kyla Decker was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Deer Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cactus, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-7.

Deer Valley has already played their next game, a 5-4 defeat against Flagstaff on the 14th. As for Cactus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-2 loss against Ironwood on the 11th.
