The Liberty-Benton Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Calvert Senecas at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty-Benton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Liberty-Benton after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 18-8 to Elmwood.

Kylie Steinman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Roberts, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Calvert made easy work of Old Fort on Monday and carried off a 15-1 win. Considering the Senecas have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison King was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Eilrich, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Addie Endicott was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Calvert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Old Fort only posted an OBP of .200.

Calvert has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for Liberty-Benton, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-3.

Both Liberty-Benton and Calvert just can't seem to miss. The Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Calvert struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Liberty-Benton came out on top in a nail-biter against Calvert in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
