Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln-Way East Griffins vs. Bloom Blazing Trojan

The Lincoln-Way East Griffins are taking a road trip to face off against the Bloom Blazing Trojan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln-Way East will be strutting in after a victory while Bloom will be coming in after a defeat.

If Lincoln-Way East beats Bloom with 59 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Lincoln-Way East strolled past Andrew with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 59-44. Given the Griffins' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Bloom unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Sunday. They took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln Park.

Lincoln-Way East pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Bloom, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Lincoln-Way East came up short against Bloom in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 67-59. Can Lincoln-Way East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
