Baseball Recap: Orchard View Comes Up Short

Orchard View extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-9-2. They lost 18-1 to the Manistee Chippewas. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 13-0 to the Chippewas when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Manistee, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Manistee's part, Braylen Zimmerman made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, Zimmerman posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and three stolen bases. He has become a key player for Manistee: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Manistee got a massive performance out of Keegan Shannon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Shannon has posted since back in April. Landin Sowa was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

While Orchard View had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
