Softball Recap: Garland Takes a Loss

Garland has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.13 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They fell just short of the Sachse Mustangs by a score of 11-10. The Owls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Sinijay Maxey was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Cecilia Perry was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Garland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Garland's loss dropped their record down to 5-2-1. As for Sachse, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Coming up, Garland will venture away from home to take on South Garland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garland's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so South Garland's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sachse, they will welcome Wylie at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
