Baseball Recap: Southwestern Piasa Birds vs. Vandalia Vandals
Southwestern came out on top against Vandalia on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Piasa Birds took their game against the Vandals 8-4. The Piasa Birds haven't had any issues with the Vandals recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Ian Brantley made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Southwestern is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-15 otherwise. Brantley was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March.
