Basketball Recap: Stringer Takes a Loss

Stringer extended their losing streak to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 2-14. They were outmatched by the Resurrection Catholic Eagles and fell 72-38. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-46 on January 13th.

As for Resurrection Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 23 points or more this season.

Resurrection Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but SIMEON BALLARD led the charge by shooting 79% from the field to rack up 25 points and seven boards. The last time BALLARD's field goal percentage was this high was back in November of 2025. KEYSHAWN NESBITT was another key player, going 5-for-11 en route to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stringer will face off against Lumberton at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Resurrection Catholic, they will square off against Taylorsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will be up against the Tartars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.35 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
