Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cotopaxi

Cotopaxi extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Hayden Eggleston. The Cotopaxi Pirates simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat the Antonito Trojans 52-15 thanks in part to Eggleston, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 steals. She has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Erika Loyo, who posted three points and five steals. She has become a key player for Cotopaxi: the team is 6-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 2-3 otherwise.

Antonito's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Shyanne Martinez, who earned six points along with five rebounds and four blocks, and Kim Sisneros, who had two points and four steals.

Cotopaxi's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Antonito, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Moffat the next time they take the court. Cotopaxi will head out to face Moffat at 5:05 p.m. on Thursday, while Antonito will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
