Gridley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Anderson, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Gridley put the hurt on Anderson with a sharp 26-4 win on Thursday. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Reese Stevens made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Stevens was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-6.
In other batting news, Delanie Cloyd was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Solis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Gridley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 29 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Gridley's record now sits at 7-1. As for Anderson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gridley will head out to square off against Oroville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Anderson, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Shasta at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Anderson's pitchers better be ready for this one: Shasta has averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
