Basketball Recap: Burrillville Wins Going Away Against Middletown

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Kingstown, Burrillville was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Middletown Islanders 60-37. The Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.

Burrillville found their leader in sophomore Sean Zanella, who posted 16 points. Jordan Furtado was another key player, putting up seven points along with five boards and four steals.

Burrillville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Burrillville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Middletown, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burrillville has already played their next game (against Westerly), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Middletown is taking a road trip to face off against Odessa at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Odessa's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups.
