Recap: Woodland Wolverines vs. Colleton County Cougars
The Woodland Wolverines were the 54-36 winner over the Colleton County Cougars when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Woodland took a 37-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colleton County. Woodland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Woodland lost on Sunday, one person who can't be blamed is Kah'Liyah Geddis. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points. Geddis scored a full 51.6% of Woodland's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Carmen Allen, who scored 7 points.
Colleton County found their leader in underclassman Xiomara Oxner, who scored 13 points. Zariona Hudson was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Woodland now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Colleton County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Woodland will head out on the road to face off against First Baptist School at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Colleton County, they will be playing at home against Allendale-Fairfax at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Allendale-Fairfax presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Colleton County in South Carolina (Allendale-Fairfax is ranked 49th, while Colleton County is ranked 165th).
