Football Recap: Allen Piles Up the Points Against Mounds + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Allen). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Mounds Golden Eagles 56-7. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Allen's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davion Byrd, who rushed for 69 yards and a pair of TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayd Bell, who rushed for 63 yards and two scores.

Allen didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Quinton Box led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Box, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Allen's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Mounds, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Allen will welcome Wewoka at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Mounds, they will challenge Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
