Softball Recap: Providence Find Success

Providence hadn't done well against Perry Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Pioneers skirted past the Commodores 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pioneers have posted since April 30, 2024.

Sydney Laslie (2027) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Leasor (2025), who scored a run while going 3-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Providence and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Perry Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Providence will welcome Jeffersonville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Perry Central, they will challenge Tell City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
