Softball Game Preview: Monroe Hornets vs. Bellbrook Golden Eagles

For the second straight game, Monroe will face off against Bellbrook. The Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Monroe is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Monroe fell victim to Bellbrook and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 1-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Hornets were not able to get on the board.

For Bellbrook's part, Abigail Hebrank (2028) was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 20 over seven innings pitched. Hebrank (2028) has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Hebrank (2028) wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lainey Schleich (2025), who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Heidi Pummell (2027), who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Bellbrook hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Bellbrook has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.
