Softball Recap: Rushville Lions vs. East Central Trojans

Rushville had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it ten. They fell 10-6 to the East Central Trojans. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 19-2 to the Trojans when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Rushville got a massive performance out of Makenna Ripberger, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Ripberger has launched this season. Stacey Roberts was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for East Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games.

On East Central's side, Delaney Donawerth was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and two doubles while going 4-for-4. Donawerth has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Broegan Knuz, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Rushville will challenge rival Franklin County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, East Central is set to take on their familiar foe Lawrenceburg at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
