Football Game Preview: Center Point Pirates vs. Sabinal Yellowjackets

The Center Point Pirates will square off against the Sabinal Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Center Point has given up an average of 34.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Center Point ended up a good deal behind La Pryor and lost 33-18.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sabinal). They claimed a resounding 58-20 win over Somerset Academy Collegiate.

Center Point better keep an eye on Andy Reyes. He was instrumental in Sabinal's win, picking up 125 receiving yards and two scores. That's the most receiving touchdowns Reyes has posted since back in October of 2024.

Sabinal was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Sabinal's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Center Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Center Point barely slipped by Sabinal in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 28-27. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
