Volleyball Recap: Valwood Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Valwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Valdosta Wildcats. If the Valiants were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Valwood took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-16, 15-11.

Margaret Parks paced Valwood's offense, picking up ten kills. Parks got some help from Abby O'Neal and her 28 assists. Parks was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Valdosta's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Souad Dennis, who had six digs and two aces. That's the most aces Dennis has posted since back in September of 2024. Maddie Sutherland was another key player, getting 12 digs and five assists.

Valwood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Valdosta, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Valwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Creekside Christian Academy on the 16th. As for Valdosta, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Lee County on the 14th.
