Baseball Recap: Stillman Valley Comes Up Short

Stillman Valley couldn't beat Lutheran on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Cardinals lost 17-8 to the Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Monday.

Cale Kleinschmidt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Stillman Valley: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-17 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Casey McCleary, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Stillman Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Lutheran, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7.
