Baseball Recap: Atchison County Comes Up Short

Atchison County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 7-4 to the Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] Cyclones. Unfortunately, that's the first time they've come up short against the Cyclones this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-6 loss on Monday.

Kain Koontz and Max Bottorff stepped up to the plate in a big way. Koontz scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Bottorff went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Atchison County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Riverside [Wathena/Elwood], the victory keeps they at an undefeated 5-0.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Cyclones beat Atchison County by a score of 11-6 later that day.
