Softball Recap: Aletheia Christian Academy Has No Trouble Against Booker T. Washington

Aletheia Christian Academy barely beat Booker T. Washington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions blew past the Wildcats 14-5 on Tuesday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Summer Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Olivia Varela was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allie Reeder, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Aletheia Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.2 runs over those games. As for Booker T. Washington, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
