Grassfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Hickory Hawks. Grassfield have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Hickory, too.

Grassfield's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Hickory, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4-2.

Grassfield and Hickory should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Grizzlies (ranked 16th) will meet Lakeland (ranked 256th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hickory will square off against Indian River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (26 vs. 220).
