Basketball Game Preview: Penasco Panthers vs. Clayton Yellowjackets

Penasco is 0-5 against Clayton since January of 2015 but things could change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Penasco Panthers will get right back to it and host the Clayton Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Penasco duked it out withSanta Rosa on Thursday. Penasco fell 65-55 to Santa Rosa. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Lions are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clayton). They blew past Wagon Mound 75-49 on Tuesday. While the Yellowjackets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Clayton's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Penasco, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
