Basketball Recap: Taft Takes a Loss

Taft has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were outmatched by the Trotwood-Madison Rams and fell 89-51. If the Senators were looking for revenge after losing 72-52 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Je'Carious 'Cari' Reaves went supernova for Trotwood-Madison, going 9 for 12 on his way to 24 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance gave Reaves a new career-high in boards. Jermiel Atkins was another key player, going 7 of 8 en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.

Taft's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Trotwood-Madison, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taft will challenge Belmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Taft is facing Belmont at the right time seeing as Belmont is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Trotwood-Madison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aiken at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
