Softball Game Preview: Saint Viator Lions vs. IC Catholic Prep Knights

The Saint Viator Lions will head out on the road to take on the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Saint Viator is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

Saint Viator lost 17-2 to Joliet Catholic on Saturday.

Saint Viator saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Horn, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, IC Catholic Prep came up short against Nazareth Academy on Saturday and fell 7-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

IC Catholic Prep's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Saint Viator, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saint Viator hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like IC Catholic Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Saint Viator was able to grind out a solid victory over IC Catholic Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
