Basketball Preview: DeMatha Stags vs. Bishop McNamara Mustangs

DeMatha's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Our Lady of Good Counsel. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (57), DeMatha still had to take the loss.
DeMatha's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacob Wallace, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, and Malcolm Thomas who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cole Bowser, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Bishop McNamara is ranked highly in their home state, and on Sunday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Panthers. Bishop McNamara took a hard 74-55 fall against the Panthers. Bishop McNamara has struggled against the Panthers recently, as their contest on Sunday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
DeMatha's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Bishop McNamara, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.
DeMatha came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 65-63. Will DeMatha repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
