Basketball Recap: Barry Western Comes Up Short

Barry Western played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 47-21 to the Staunton Bulldogs. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-6.

Despite the defeat, Barry Western saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sophie Rennecker dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Mya Sheppard was another key player, putting up four points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Barry Western's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Staunton, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barry Western will be taking part in a tournament against Pittsfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Staunton, they will take on Brown County in a tournament on Wednesday.
