Baseball Recap: Hawthorne Cougars vs. Lawndale Cardinals
Hawthorne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-3 to the Lawndale Cardinals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hawthorne of the 12-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Lawndale's part, Emilio Brenes was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brenes was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
