Baseball Recap: Evansville North Picks Up Eighth Straight Win on the Road

Evansville North waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Southridge Raiders. That's more bragging rights for the Huskies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Conner Watson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Evansville North let Jake Wilke and AJ Baggett run wild. Wilke got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, while Baggett went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Baggett has posted since back in April. Aaron Humphrey was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Evansville North pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southridge, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Looking ahead, Evansville North will take on Jasper at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Southridge, they are taking a road trip to face off against Gibson Southern at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight.
