Volleyball Recap: Bonanza Bengals vs. Legacy Longhorns
After flying high against Doral Academy Red Rock last Thursday, Bonanza came back down to earth. The Bengals fell 3-1 to the Legacy Longhorns on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on April 3rd.
While Bonanza ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 25-21.
Michael Wienand paced Bonanza's offense, picking up 15 kills. Wienand got some help from Matthew Oh and his 17 assists. Wienand also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Alejandro Zamaro, racking up three apiece.
Bonanza's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-14. As for Legacy, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bonanza will take on Eldorado at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Legacy, they will face off against Sierra Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
