Recap: Seton Catholic Central Saints vs. Waverly Wolverines
If the Seton Catholic Central Saints were riding high off their 74-38 takedown of the Susquehanna Valley Sabers on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Seton Catholic Central fell just short of Waverly by a score of 52-50. Seton Catholic Central lost against Waverly in their previous head to head back in March of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 73-37 score last time.
Seton Catholic Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allan Eagles, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eagles has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Johnny Hopf, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Seton Catholic Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Waverly, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seton Catholic Central will be home for the holidays to greet Owego Free Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Owego Free Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Waverly will be home for the holidays to greet Chenango Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Chenango Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
