Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Greenville Christian Academy's Fourth in Last Five Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bethel Christian Academy, Greenville Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wilson Christian Academy Chargers a 5-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 back in March.

Mason Brown made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Brown wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Ethan Hopkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Greenville Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wilson Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

Greenville Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 win against Liberty Christian Academy on the 24th. As for Wilson Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-1 defeat against Southside Christian on the 24th.
