Volleyball Recap: Bartow Takes a Loss

Bartow lost against Lakeland last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Yellow Jackets fell 3-1 to the Dreadnaughts. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Bartow started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-22.

Lexi Kemp paced Bartow's offense, picking up 12 kills. Kemp got some help from Kaelyn Hall and her 25 assists. Hall also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Rilynn Merritt, each putting up three.

Melanie Bautista was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had eight digs and three aces. Those three aces gave her a new career-high.

Bartow's record now sits at 17-6. As for Lakeland, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Bartow has already played their next match (against Lake Wales), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Lakeland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Winter Haven on the 7th.
