D'Iberville will welcome Ocean Springs at 6:30 p.m. D'Iberville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Ocean Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for D'Iberville's offense. They fell just short of St. Martin by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Yellow Jackets since on Tuesday.
Emma Franklin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 17 Ks. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in February.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ocean Springs, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Biloxi with a sharp 13-5 win on Tuesday. The Greyhounds haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Ocean Springs also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kylie Untisz gave up only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Ocean Springs let Kerrigan Scott and Laynee Davis run wild. Scott scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Davis went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, Scott posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Gracie McDonald, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Ocean Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Biloxi only posted an OBP of .345.
D'Iberville now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Ocean Springs, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
Ocean Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. D'Iberville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ocean Springs, though, as they've been averaging only 2.1 strikeouts. Will D'Iberville keep running through batters, or will Ocean Springs buck the trend?
