Football Recap: Lowndes Piles Up the Points Against Central Gwinnett

Lowndes strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took their game with ease, bagging a 37-6 win over the Central Gwinnett Black Knights. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Vikings had established a 21-point advantage.

Lowndes' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Woods led the charge by rushing for 157 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Woods showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 57 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaevone Thomas, who gained 118 total yards and a touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Lowndes proved: they limited Central Gwinnett to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. While two picked up at least nine total tackles, Garrick Harris stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks, forced one fumble, and made nine total tackles (4.0 for loss). Lowndes didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.9.

Lowndes' defense didn't let Terrell Killings., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Malik Reddick and Harris, who racked up five sacks between them. Another thorn in Central Gwinnett's side was Damarion Treadwell, who picked up a sack and made six total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Lowndes' record is now 3-0. As for Central Gwinnett, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 1-1-1.

Lowndes didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-7 victory against Manatee on the 5th. As for Central Gwinnett, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Chapel Hill at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th.
